Spain | Fourth meeting with local partners

Venue: Online

On March 18, 2021, the fourth meeting with the secondary education establishments involved in the Orienta4YEL Project in the Catalan context took place online. The institutions involved are: Institut Terra Roja (Santa Coloma de Gramanet), Jaume Cabré Institute (Terrassa), Mª Aurèlia Capmany Institute (Cornellà de Llobregat), IES Manuel Vázquez Montalbán (Sant Adrià del Besós), Torras i Bages Institute (Hospitalet del Llobregat), Blanxart Research Institute ( Terrassa), Institut Escola del Prat (El Prat de Llobregat), Institut Joan Oró (Martorell), Institut Gabriela Mistral (Sant Vicenç dels Horts), and Institut Pepa-Colomer (El Prat de Llobregat).

The meeting has served to see how, although the current and difficult situation, the 10 Catalan secondary education centres, which are involved in the Orienta4YEL, are actively working on the implementation of the strategies and actions to tackling ESL that have been designed within the framework of the project with the UAB staff’ support.

During the meeting, the centres have shared their strategies, which are mainly focused on:
— individual support through social mentoring actions and personalized tutorial action;
— activities for personal development and family involvement (EXIT group, social theatre, interactive groups, family space, etc.) focused on working on positive and healthy relationships, on positive attitude towards learning, on improving the relationship with educational centres, etc.;
— establishing links with the wider community through a collaborative and coordinated action between educational centres and the social and educational agents of the municipality through the active participation of the centres in Context Educational Plans, the development of youth orientation spaces in the educational centres, the design of protocols of absenteeism at the municipal level, etc.
