Follow-up of Orienta4YEL actions to tackle early school leaving from the Institut Gabriela Mistral (Sant Vicenç dels Horts- Spain)

On 10th May 2021, Anna Díaz and Jordi Codina, members of the research team Orienta4YEL from EDO-UAB, held an online meeting with Mari Àngels García, director of the FP studies of the Gabriela Mistral Institute of Sant Vicenç dels Horts (Spain).
The meeting served to know the actions that the Institute carries out to confront early school leaving. Although Gabriela Mistral Institute conducts different strategies to prevent early school leaving, in the framework of the Orienta4YEL project, they have decided to focus on the young people studying the Middle-Grade Vocational Training in “Microcomputer systems and networks”. In this sense, they will perform a peer-tutoring session between students of the middle grade and the upper grade of the studies related to informatics and communications. The aim is that middle-grade students receive support and guidance from the students of the upper-grade studies.
In a few weeks, the EDO-UAB team will conduct the final assessment of the strategy applied through a focus group with the teaching staff and the students involved.
